I really love this book - both from a history point of view and from a dratmatic point of view.I first read this book when I was in middle school and I really liked it a lot. I thought it was a great book - it taught about another culture/religion/way of life, while also keeping an adequate amount of character drama in the book to keep my attention. I have read complaints about the nudity in other reviews, but it is not like anyone is having sex - the book simply states that the religious dances are done in the nude, which is a fact, not a fantasy. I do not feel this book is anappropriate for the age group it was written for. I was fascinated by the story, and have recently reread it and I still think that it is an interesting read.It teaches you about finding your own path while not forgetting where you came from, and how to find the strength to be your own person.

Great book! I used for my M.S. English class. The kids loved. It's easy to read and understand. Great historical fiction.

When I discovered that this book was going to be about Moses, I almost didn't read it. "The 10 Commandments" bothers me so much with its inaccurate portrayal of the ancient Egyptians. Pharaoh's Daughter was nothing like it! The author really did well in putting the reader back in that time, using words and phrases that fit the time, names that would have been used... and best of all, the characters were more true to what we know of that time!It was so beautifully written, I wanted to drench myself in it.

Wouldn’t recommend for young children. A few weird things in this book

I loved that book and I recommend it to anyone who has lived in Egypt.

It is very informative and due to the fact it contains less than one hundred pages Carolyn wastes no time, she gives it to you “straight, no chaser “l gained a great deal of information on fashion Illustration quickly without having to read through pages and pages of content. This is a must for your fashion library. Carolyn covers how to create plaids and printed fabrics. Her method for creating beautiful hair on an ethnic model is so unique and looks as if you spent effort and time but it’s so easy! I can go on and on , but for this price , buy it and judge for yourself. The book is truly phenomenal!

I really got very little out of this book. Had high expectations. Cannot really put my finger on it but I think the problem was there was not much practical instruction and examples on how to write code. Plus, it jumped between ADO and DBO and did not provide examples of how to write both for a given topic. As an ADO beginner that was disappointed. There is a dearth of books on this topic. Was hoping it would be more of a step-by-step on how to connect from Excel to Access with examples of how to write various queries based on different criteria, etc.

Helpful code examples. I found this invaluable, particularly for examples that showed how to iterate over multiple workbooks. The appendices were useful as well, clearly written, and not just a dumping ground for voluminous material.I would have liked to see some material on common run time errors that arise in this type of work.The example on data driven formatting was a thing of beauty, one that I think I will mine frequently.

"Integrating Excel and Access" covers the topic spelled out in the book's title...the integration of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access. While this may appear to be a niche topical area, I found such integration to be important, especially when working with large and complex data sets using non-enterprise class tools.The book does a good job covering the important area of the object models...for both Excel and Access. Utilizing and referencing object models across these two applications can prove to be a critical task when automating the integration of Access and Excel.I used this book for the specific purpose of automating Excel from Access and vice-versa...thus my focus on object models. As such, I did not focus a great deal on the rest of the book's content.This is the best reference I have come across related to the automation of Microsoft Excel from Microsoft Access and vice versa.

This ones a real keeper.As a person who is both a Hobbyist Programmer, who is sometimes called upon to bring those skills into work, I have been searching for this book for some time, it very elegantly describes how to combine the best aspects of Access, It's GUI and report Tools, and Excel - Its ease of use and familiarity to many more users (in my experiance.)It is of course an O'Reilly book, so its not for Dummys; but if you are at all comfortable with VBA you should have no problems with this book. Mega Props on a great book. BB.

I have spent the past ten years making my living developing integrated & automated financial systems using Excel, Access, and VBA for accounting and finance departments. That said, I literally have dozens of Excel, Access, and VBA books on my bookshelf. This is the only book that I have ever seen that integrates Excel and Access. It of course uses VBA to accomplish much of this.Why it has taken so long for someone to put the pieces together in one book I am not sure. What I am sure of is how useful this book is. If you use Excel and Access this book is a must. This should be your primary reference for integrating and automating Excel and Access. You will learn better ways to do what you are already doing. You will also learn ways to do things that you never knew were possible. As a result, your applications will be more efficient, more powerful, more accurate, more reliable, and finally, you will be a better programmer/developer.My work as a consultant puts me in a position to help others learn new ways to use Excel, Access, and VBA on a daily basis. When I show users what is possible, things that are covered in this book, they are not only impressed, they are amazed. They now do things that they never dreamed possible.Integrating the two object models using VBA allows you to fully automate your applications/models. You can now do it minutes, if not seconds, what used to take you hours or days. You remove the possibility of the user making errors because the user is no longer manually manipulating the data (copying, pasting, etc.) You are not changing formulas, expressions, or criteria. You are allowing the computer to do all of that for you. This book, combined with advanced VBA makes true automation possible.Even if you only desire to be an intermediate user, this book will make using Excel data in Access so much easier. I have quite a bit of experience with Excel and I am new to using Access. Right now, I am writing tools for business use and some personal use and this book has helped me a lot. It has also shown easier methods to build tools than some of what I have done in the past.It is perfectly matched to what I needed for a current tool I am writing.I definitely recommend this book for beginners and intermediates also if you have significant experience you may not find it helpful.

Each of the stories in this collection was interesting and heartwarming. However, I find myself agreeing with many other reviewers who thought the stories got bogged down with details about the social services and foster parenting programs. I skimmed through a lot of the book, wishing the author would just get on with the story. Other than that, it was well written and held my interest.

Very interesting. I had no idea the amount of paperwork child caregivers had to do..However this was set in England so maybe its different in the USA.It is very difficult to read about the awful things that happen to children...these books are a gift to read about such a giving person who welcomes damaged kids into her home. Not all caregivers are as loving and kind as Cathy Glass.

The online edition is more than just a digital copy, it includes videos of Ben Forta (the author) talking and going over basically the whole book. The online edition also includes quizzes and code testing problems to practice.

Trying to learn SQL? Look no further. I'm in a business analyst role, and after reading 70 pages, this book has already improved my relational database skills, and I cannot wait to finish. Having basic knowledge of relational databases (MS access) and understanding excel functions has improved my learning curve.P.s. this book will not actually teach you SQL in ten minutes, that is impossible. Plan to spend at least 30 minutes, a few days a week, reading and practicing exercises. Learning SQL (like anything else) takes practice and persistence. You will succeed if you put in the time. I defer to my favorite motto, "life is a marathon, not a sprint."

I bought this book for work--I need to understand how to report out of MS SQL, having no experience using SQL. This book's explanation for a rookie like me was perfect--I could not be more pleased with the approach and layout and even the practice exercises. Having the book in paper format and IN COLOR is very helpful to make notes to refer back to--I would advise getting the paper over Kindle. I also liked the fact that multiple platforms (like OpenOffice Base) were discussed, as I used Base for this learning, so as not to disrupt my companies actual live DB. I HIGHLY recommend this book for people new to SQL, with no prior knowledge on how to use it. Well done Ben Forta!

They say that all the examples given in this book will worth with the list of dbms' they list.You actually won't learn sql in 10 minutes but most likely be able to get through each chapter within 10 minutes. The exercises aren't difficult and you should get a very rudimentary understanding of sql. I sat through the first 4 chapters without really breaking a sweat.The book itself is in full color, which is a nice touch, and the paper is high quality. Its a rather small book and that was somewhat disappointing but I guess that's why this is really a beginners book. If you've fidgeted around with sql at work or at home you can probably skip the first four chapters. if you skip the examples on your first go, you can probably finish the book within two hours.Is this book worth the 24 bucks and change that i spent on it? Absolutely not. Maybe 15 bucks. Mine also had a sticky residue stuck on the back which i can't seem to remove so that's unfortunate.

Well, more accurately "SQL in 10 Minutes Per Lesson". SQL isn't the hardest thing to break down as it is so focused on one thing and relatively simple. That made the format work out fairly well. I'm no expert on SQL yet, but this book seems to fit with what I knew coming in, and what I've picked up since. With any tech book in print, you do have to realize some of the stuff will already be out of date by the time you pick the book up. There weren't too many awful practices, at least none that couldn't be solved with a quick search and asking around.

You really can teach yourself with just 10 minutes a day. This small book has made my job easier and saved me tons of time by migrating from Access to SQL Server when retrieving large amounts data. It even saved the day during a month end when data was updated late on the Server. When the update was finished, I tapped directly into SQL Server and got the data I needed in just under 2 minutes. Normally I would have used Access to link to the tables and run the append queries to be able to process the data. It would have taken me at least 1 hour for the whole process in Access and management needed the financial reporting as soon as possible. Luckily, I had written the code with this book's help and just ran the query. I was able to deliver on time.
