The book itself is fine however, the title explicitly states that the Kindle version comes with an access code to the Navigate 2 Essentials site. After extensively searching the book and contacting Amazon I was informed that the Kindle version does not have an access code despite falsely being advertised and sold with the impression that this would be included. If you buy the Kindle version just be aware that you will not gain access to the Navigate 2 Essentials site and will have to find an alternate means to an access code.

I'm currently taking an EMT course and this is definitely the handbook of it all. If you buy the new version, there's an online access code in the back cover that gives you access to online quizzes, summaries, outlined, audio book, etc. for 1year :) Definitely handy for reviewing when you're driving and also when you want to test yourself on the material. The book can also be a paper holder for strong winds and kill spiders, or knock someone down if this was thrown at them (it's thick with knowledge). 0_0

It's a big, fat, expensive book. It's got everything you need to know though! If someone breaks in your house, throw this at them! Then pick up the book and it will tell you exactly how to fix them. If you need it, buy it! Like I said, everything you need to know! It's also good at helping you sleep!

UPDATE: This book DOES come with an access code. HOWEVER, you need to confirm what access code you NEED first. This text book comes with ESSENTIALS access, not ADVANTAGE, PREFERRED or PREMIER. Many EMS classes require PREMIER so you need to make sure you are purchasing what you need.I originally rated this 5 stars. However, I'm changing it to 1. This whole access code nonsense is very deceptive, especially when many people believe it is what they need when it says "Essentials."

The physical version of this textbook is GINORMOUS. I hate carrying heavy textbooks, and prefer to use kindle versions whenever possible, that way I can take my tablet wherever I am and do some reading.Content wise, this version of the textbook has exactly what the physical version has. It is not, however, an exact replica of the page layout of the physical version. I don't really care about that, as long as the content is the same I will get what I need out of the book.One thing to note is that there is NOT an access code with this version. I called the JB Learning and purchased the access code as a standalone. When I bought the access code, I was able to use a discount code. I am not sure if that is something they always do, but it made the overall price of the kindle version textbook and the access code to be less than what the physical textbook would have been - so that is something to think about.As for the textbook itself...all l I can say is that it is a textbook. Course reading is not always exciting, but this book gets the job done, and is an integral part of the EMS training.

Bought brand new in paper back format description said the book had access code to Navigate 2, which it did, however when trying to use the code the website explicitly said the code had already been redeemed. How is this possible? The code should not have expired because the book itself was brand new. Book was great price but without access code it is unnerving and frustrating.

This book is needed for my EMT course...what I love about it most is that theres a scratcher inside..once you scratch it you go to their website, use the code and if you have an mp3 player, you can download the audio which reads each chapter word by word! It was very helpful in my EMT class. The workbook really helps you understand the material.

I love that this book has SO MANY practice questions. I was impressed by how fat it was! Lots of bang for your buck. You get vocabulary matching, 30-40 multiple choice, fill in the blanks, crossword and applied context multiple choice, fill in the bank and short answer questions for each chapter. On some chapters you also have anatomy labeling, It's a great resource for reviewing important material. The questions focus on a mix of vocabulary and essential concepts, but also have critical thinking questions such as a given scenario and logic of problem diagnosis and appropriate interventions.I LOVE THAT THE ANSWER KEY INCLUDES PAGE NUMBERS FROM THE TEXTBOOK SO YOU CAN FIND THE EXPLANATION SO EASILY.It wasn't required for my EMT course, but even if I was cash-strapped I still highly recommend this workbook. Definitely helped me retain information better after reading each chapter and were great for review prior to tests.

I was shocked when I read the ''most helpful'' reviews listed for this book because I am an avid devotee of etiquettehell.com and I seriously reconsidered my purchase despite looking forward to reading this book for some time. I took the allegations against Jeanne Hamilton seriously although I couldn't fathom they were accurate as I would never spend time on a website administered by such a hateful, elitist snob. HOWEVER, I could be wrong, so I definitely wanted to read the book regardless to find out if the charges were substantiated, and if indeed Jeanne Hamilton is hiding a hideous persona that somehow the website conceals but the book reveals. I take reviews seriously and finally decided I needed to judge for myself as to the allegations of racism and elitism.Having read Wedding Etiquette Hell at long last, I see Bridezillas are the authors of those reviews. Any time ethnicity or cultural traditions are mentioned in the book, it is when money grubbing entitlement practices are being discussed. If I am wrong about this, and there are in fact reproducible passages in the book that can be quoted in a future review, please do so. I see that did not occur in the scathing reviews, but my inferences of where the allegations arise from are absolutely accurate, I am positive. Bridezillas HATE this book, lololol. I found it hysterical and dead-on accurate. Sickeningly so!!I recommend this book for all wedding party members who have any integrity whatsoever, but it will be wasted on those who have none and will write negative reviews after having been exposed to themselves through the book lololol. Matrimony for the money --- how much of the divorce rate occurs from that TRUE motivation for marriage.

I really enjoyed this book and got a lot out of it. I would have given it a higher review than 3 stars, but I did have some issues with the book:1. The author was too negative about certain wedding traditions, mainly the practice of having bridesmaids. She repeatedly used the phrase: "Honor" of being a bridesmaid, with the word honor in quotes. I found that very irritating, because as a recent bridesmaid myself, I can say that I was quite honored by the role despite the expense and time required.2. A majority of the advice in the book can be boiled down to: Be a decent human being. Most of the stories are about a bride or a person who behaved very cruelly or even insanely. These stories were usually VERY entertaining, but didn't yield much practical advice.As I said though, I really did enjoy this book and the author was able to win me over on a number of issues, most especially the issue of photography. I had been planning to have a 45 minute gap between ceremony and reception at my upcoming wedding, but the author was able to convince me that that would be rude, and that prewedding photography can be special in it's own way. There were also some good practical tips on socializing with guests, etc.I do recommend this book, but you'll need to read other, more complete wedding etiquette books to get all the necessary practical advice!

I am a fan of the author's Etiquette Hell web site (which covers more than weddings), so when I became a bride-to-be I picked this book up. What sets it apart from other etiquette guides, besides not having hundreds of pages, is that it uses real-life stories and covers only the areas that people are most likely to care about. In other words, it's relevant. She introduces etiquette rules and uses stories to illustrate them. Some of the stories are a bit extreme, but it is effective to get the point across.Some people may think that it is petty, but I don't think it is. Personally, I stopped talking to a friend when she didn't invite me to her wedding (and made it clear from the get-go that I wasn't invited) but still waved her engagement ring in my face and invited me to her bridal shower. Those are the things people really care about. No one's really going to remember or even care about whether the train on your gown was cathedral or chapel-length or what flowers and cake you chose and this book doesn't even address it. Instead, it covers things like being sure you have enough seating, having a venue that is appropriate, how to treat guests/family/the wedding party, invitation and announcement etiquette, registry etiquette, and generally not becoming a bridezilla.I subtracted a star, though, because the wedding planner/bride conversation sections probably should have been left out of the book. they just rehash what she had already spent the previous several pages saying and are unnecessary. Overall, though, this is a must for any bride-to-be.

I thought this book was hillarious as well as a great guide for any bride to be. Anyone who has ever been a bride or attended weddings probably knows a horror story or two regarding them, and can really relate to this book. I am using the advice planning my own wedding, and it's a much better read than most of the boring bridal etiquette books.

i read this entire book from cover to cover and I found it to be not only hilarious, but extremely helpful, as it covers basic etiquette concerning weddings that maybe not everyone is already aware of. i guess the main thing is that it basically illustrates how doing little "harmless" things that an ignorant or just plain naive person would do (i.e. putting wedding registry info along with an invitation, "forgetting" to give thank-you notes) could result in people getting really offended and/or hurt. the examples (true stories!) are quite interesting and funny to read, and make you realize how you really don't want to become one of those bridezillas! This is probably the book equivalent to that show on WE (can't remember the name) featuring "bridezillas" going nutso during their wedding planning. The thing is, once you see how ugly and nasty people like that can become, you'll want to do everything in your power not to turn into one of them. :)

I first went to Iceland in 2012 — I say first because (a) although I haven’t physically been back yet, I will go again (and again) and (b) I can travel to Iceland through Michael Ridpath’s books. A Brit, Ridpath writes with keen understanding of the perspective of a cop who is both American and Icelandic— and at times, neither. Magnus is a smart, incisive, and passionate detective, more at home in Boston (in the early books) than in his birthplace — until this book, when he settles once again into being an Icelander. The murder mystery is clever, too— both cop thriller and academic puzzle, with (as Ridpath does frequently), lots of history and evocation of place. Ridpath writes well, a clear police procedural but with both pathos and humor. And yes, The Wanderer could use a bit tighter editing, but I don’t blame the author for that. I loved The Wanderer but if you’re new to the series, I recommend starting with the first book (Where the Shadows Lie) to understand Magnus and the events that led him here. Iceland is becoming a booming tourist destination, and if people discover Ridpath’s books, it will explode. Five Trends in the 2012 International Building Code covered in the 4th Edition of Building Codes Illustrated by Steven R Winkel The new 4th edition of Building Codes Illustrated is aimed at two audiences. The first is students and emerging professionals who are just learning to use the building code. The second audience is more experienced practitioners looking to validate their interpretations of code sections and to familiarize themselves with changes made in the new 2012 International Building Code. The new 4th edition of Building Codes Illustrated uses graphics, the language of designers, to elaborate on the book’s text to clarify code intent and requirements for code users. Below are trends I noticed while revising the 4th Edition text to accompany the wonderful illustrations of Francis D.K. Ching. These are just a few examples of the many changes to be found in the new code. One trend in code revisions today is to make changes to “clarify” the code. These changes often involve not only rewording sections, but reorganizing the order of various sections. Section number changes make it very hard to find items based on remembering section numbers from old codes. In my code consulting practice I advise designers to never do code work from memory. While the code text indicates in the margins where sections have been deleted, it gives no guidance about whether the section has just been moved, or wholly deleted. This book gives guidance for such changes. Outpatient medical care occurs increasingly in facilities not located in traditional health-care centers. It is becoming common to find outpatient surgical procedures happening in tenant spaces. New requirements in Section 422 address fire separations of these medical spaces from adjacent tenants where the patients may be rendered unconscious or unable to move readily in an emergency. Examples of facilities that could be covered by these provisions are laser vision clinics and kidney dialysis treatment centers. The code requirements for fire protection of overhangs located close to a property line have always been confusing. There are revised code provisions for how to measure and protect overhangs that are accompanied by new illustrations in our book. Open “exit” stairs were relocated in the Mean of Egress Chapter, IBC Chapter 10, from the Exit section in Section 1022 to be “exit access stairs” in Section 1016 in the 2009 International Building Code, as illustrated in the 3rd Edition of our book. This revision was revised yet again in the 2012 code into requirements for open and enclosed stairs in Section 1009, as illustrated in the 4th Edition. Guard rail heights in R-3 occupancies and inside R-2 occupancies have been reduced in an Exception to Section 1013.3 to 36 inches from the 42 inch height previously required. This aligns the IBC with the International Residential Code requirements for one and two family dwellings. There are numerous other changes described and illustrated in the new 4th edition of Building Codes Illustrated.

Even if you think that you know the building code inside-and-out, this book may still be useful with its illustrations of IBC code language, for better understanding. Also, it is useful to show others---colleagues/clients/plan checkers---to assist them with understanding the building code.Of course, for a beginner in architecture, or someone who needs more experience, this book is a great primer for understanding how the building code as a whole works to provide for the public health, safety and welfare in built environments.

Best ARE study material you can get. This book is WONDERFUL and will help you pass. Answers are pretty much on every page.

As an architect, I have dealt with many variations, revisions, and updates to building codes, from Montana to Florida and points inbetween for 35 years. I still find sections where the syntax baffles me. This is an excellent addition to the archtects or students library. It is not a replacement for the local code as there are always amendments but this is a must have based on the 2015 ICC.Now if Mr.Ching could decipher the Chicago Building Code....

I use this book [in addition to the CALDAG] as interpretive code resources. It really helps to align my thinking to what is acceptable/ permit-possible to the AHJ.
