Mind you, I have a 4 year old who is practically obsessed by trains. He lives, eats, sleeps trains. (Literally, he sleeps on Thomas sheets in Chuggington pajamas, clasping his favorite train whistle or train character, with random pieces of track within his covers.) So when this book arrived, I was a little dismayed it contained so much in depth writing about trains. But my son has soaked it all up. We read a few pages at a time, discuss the pictures, and compare to what we already know, only to dive again into the next few pages.If you have a young railfan like me, your child will love it. If you have an older, able reader, the information is great. And if you just want a good nonfiction book for your library, the readability is awesome. Get it -- you won't be disappointed!
This gives a nice history of trains and the tracks. There is a good exploration of different types of trains and their uses. Good pictures. Nice book for a budding train enthusiast.
My 5 year old grandson loves this book. He loves trains and likes the fact that pictures are of real trains. Wants someone to read it to him all the time. He carries it around with him lots. Think he might wear book out and need a replacement before long.
